a home steeped in history Avignon historical center - Carmes square
A stone throw away from the Pope's palace, facing the beautifully renovated Carmes square, you'll find our house with its architectural elements of origin, built upon the ruins of an Augustinian convent dating from1261, built long before the Pope's palace. The “Augustinian Bell Tower” right next to our property is another witness of the existence of the Augustinian church, partially dismantled and sold in batches after the French Revolution. Lovers of stones will be seduced by the exceptional character of this recently renovated building. In this hidden, peaceful setting, right in the city center, but away from the touristic hustle and bustle, you can enjoy living like a local, meeting locals. Carmes square which is facing our house is the place with little, local producer market on Saturday and a flee market on Sunday mornings. There are also many typical wine bars, "bistros" and restaurants. You will find some grocery stores, caterers with typical food, hairdressers and different craftman stores within one minute walk. An authentic experience which gives you an insight that you won't have in the other touristic areas of Avignon.
